06G Roma Blue NorCal State Cup Finalists

[13 February, 2017 by Team Manager Yvonne Valiquette]  The MVLA 06G Roma Blue team faced their first loss of their NorCal State Cup competition in the Championship Game of the top division. Encountering a very strong San Juan team in the finals,  the girls played hard but ultimately, on this particular Sunday, San Juan was the better team and Roma finished their State Cup run 2nd place overall.  But what a run it was! Roma dominated the first 8 games, scoring an average of 5 goals a game, for an astonishing 46 goals in all.   The team barrelled through round 1  (23 goals for and 0 against) and round 2 (13 goals for and 0 against), moving into the Quarterfinals where they beat CA Odyssey (Cruz) 5:0, then into the Semi-finals beating Woodland Legacy 5:2.  In addition to their strong State Cup showing, Roma, for the second season in a row,  went undefeated in the fall Premier Division of NorCal. Over the 9 games of the fall season, the girls scored 45 goals and conceded only 8.  Look for this team to return with a vengeance in 2017.  Congratulations to the team and Coach Mykell Bates for a great season!
